JEE MAINS is the most powerful Entrance examination in India with over 12 lac students appearing every year. JEE MAINS is the Entrance Test for 30 NITs, 24 IIITs, IIESTs, 50+ CFTIs, National private autonomous colleges like DA-IICT and holds 15% All India quota in private Engineering colleges in all States including Maharashtra. JEE MAINS is the also the qualifying exam for JEE ADVANCED exam (2.5 lac students selected) which is the Entrance exam to the prestigious IITs, IIST and IISERs.

The syllabi of the JEE MAINS exam is the combined Std.11 + 12 CBSE syllabi. The JEE MAINS is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) from 2019 onwards. The latest 2022 JEE MAINS exam pattern has a machine-gradable paper of 75 questions (25 each in PCM) and 300 marks. There are two sections in each subject of which first section has 20 questions of single-answer MCQs and 5 questions of Integer-type questions. All questions have (+4,-1) marking scheme. No marks awarded or deducted for not attempting the question. The JEE MAINS exam is conducted twice a year in online mode with multiple exam slots all of them having different question papers. So, all students writing a particular exam slot in India shall be administered the same question paper and will be given a Percentile which is calculated amongst students who appeared in that exam slot. The marks-Percentile co-relation varies with exam slot.

Out of the 12+ lacs students appearing for JEE MAINS every year, 2.5 lac students are selected to appear for JEE ADVANCED exam. The cut-off for qualifying into JEE ADVANCED is around 90 Percentile for General category students, about 65 Percentile for OBC-NCL candidates and as low as 45 Percentile for SC/ST candidates.

 JEE MAINS TEST DETAILS

The online test series for JEE MAINS consists of Chapterwise Tests for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics alongwith Ten (10) Full Portion Tests with the pattern and difficulty level of JEE-MAINS. The JEE MAINS has an Objective questions-based exam pattern of 90 questions (30 each in PCM) and 360 marks. Each question has four choices and only one choice is correct. If a student answers a question correctly, 4 marks are awarded and 1 mark is deducted for every incorrectly attempted question. No marks awarded or deducted for not attempting the question.
